Start well and you will finish well. That has always been the case for a lot of people. It may be true for some but not for others. It is important to start well and maintain that until the end. In a game of poker, the starting hands is very important since they somehow dictate the way you play the game. It is great if at the start of the game, you already know which direction you should take. Of course, always anticipate that anything could happen. The others could have better hands than you or whatever.

In Seven-card stud poker and in any other poker variation, a good starting hand means a bigger chance in winning. If you stay until the showdown and wins the round, the other players will know that you are a good player. If this keeps up, you will have the power of bluffing in the next games. Ideally, the starting hands must be flexible to allow different cards to form a good hand. When playing stud, one must pay high. If you have the three highest cards as compared to others shown on the table, there is a chance that you have the highest pair or two pair. Three-card flushes are a good thing if there no other cards with the same suit as your on the table.

Three-card straights that have suited connectors can be turned into a straight draw. It is important to play with suited cards since they are more ‘live’ than others. Live cards are cards that are in play and not out. There are so many strategies available to help you win. You will have to closely study them and apply them when you play. Choose the right one or learn to quickly change strategies if the odds change. Always act when the odds are in your favor. Take calculated risks.

All the different poker variations are exciting to play. Each one provides a different twist to the usual poker that makes it unique and appealing. They may have slight differences in terms of rules and mechanics but they all have one ultimate goal, to pool money and award it to the best player. To become a good poker player, a lot of practice and hard work is required. Learn how to assess every situation and apply the right strategy. Not all strategies may work in certain situations so you have to make the right judgment.

In a game of Limit Seven-card stud poker, it is important to be patient and disciplined in making hands. Always anticipate that anything can happen in the game. At the start of the game, always select the the best since the starting hand greatly influences your play. Know your opponents and choose the table with the most number of perceived weak players. Study the behavior of the opponents. Determine who is easily swayed by aggression and bluffing. If the odds are on your side, always bet or raise. Always consider the upcards of the other players. If you are lucky to have a strong draw, think of raising the bet instead of calling. This move could drive other players to instantly fold not knowing that they have a better hand than yours.

Players commit a number of mistakes that cause them to lose. Some play it until the end even if they know that they only have modest cards. Learn to fold early on if you know that you are on the losing end. Pay close attention to your own game but never fail to check that of your opponents’. Never settle for second best. Always go for the best cards. The most important of all is to have the right skill in playing.

When I was younger, my classmates and I used to play a simple game of cards called bluff. Each of us are dealt a number of cards (it depends on the number of players). We then take turns in putting a card in the center of the table and say the rank. If you are caught bluffing, you get all the cards on the center, if not, the person who bluffed you will get them instead. We all have a good time playing the simple game. Little did I know that the art of bluffing will be useful in the years to come. In a game of poker, bluffing may lead one to win the pot even if he didn’t necessarily have the highest or lowest hand.

In stud poker, bluffing may help one win the game. The most important thing to remember is to never make a bluff without reason. The dark-tunnel bluff are usually hasty decisions made without much thought. The key to make a good bluff is to examine your opponents. Be particular of gestures, the way the betting goes and other aspects of the game. Before making a strong bluff, it is important to thinks of the odds that the other players may actually have a stronger hand. You have to realize that the probability of getting a great set of cards are rather slim. The key to making a good bluff in Stud poker is to really toy with the other players and their cards. Aggression will prove to be beneficial in the long run. Also, players fear Aces. They immediately assume that the player has a pair of them.

Bluffing, when used during the right time and in the right way, could lead you to win the game. It can only help you, the more important thing is to really know the game. Have the right skill and focus on prize.
